Novak Djokovic Makes History with 1000th ATP Tour Victory at Italian Open Semi-Final

Novak Djokovic wins the 1,000th game on the ATP tour with victory in the semi-finals of the Italian Open

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Jimmy Connors and Ivan Lendl are the only other men to reach this historic milestone. Djokovic achieved his 1,000th victory in 1,203 matches, making him the fourth fastest player to achieve the feat, according to ATP statistics.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner, who was presented with a cake by tournament organizers to celebrate the day, won his first victory on the tour in 2004 and has since become one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

“Thank you to the tournament and the audience for celebrating this milestone with me,” Djokovic said in his on-court interview with the ATP. “Of course I’ve seen Roger and Rafa celebrate these milestones over the last few years and I was looking forward to reaching 1,000 myself.

“I’m very, very blessed and privileged to have so many wins on the tour. It’s been a long time since I played and won my first match on the tour and hopefully I can keep it up and there will be many more wins consequences.”
