Novak Djokovic Hit in the Head with Metal Bottle After Victory in Rome: What Happened?

Novak Djokovic ended with a victory in Rome this past Friday, but it is unlikely that he will leave the courts of Rome happy. After a 6/3 and 6/1 victory against the French Corentin Moutet, the current number in the world ranking stopped at the exit of the court to sign autographs for the fans, and finished he accidentally hit his head with a metal bottle.

As of 2024, the Grand Slam record holder has competed just four times and has not won any titles. Despite the unstable level, the Serbian is still in first place in the world ranking and is already guaranteed as the first seed at Roland Garros.

At a certain point during the match, an unusual reason stopped the game: The French tennis player’s cell phone rang. With a warning from the match referee, Moutet ran to the bag and threatened to answer the call, causing Djokovic and the audience to laugh.

At the beginning of the first set, the French tennis player gave Djokovic a scare by breaking one of the Serb’s serves and opening the score 3/1. Although he had a small advantage, Moutet could not hold against Djokovic in the match and saw his opponent close the first half at 6/3.

With the advantage on the scoreboard, Djokovic was able to maintain the pace of play and continue to dominate his opponent. In the first game of the second set, Djokovic broke his opponent’s serve and continued his incredible performance, which saw him win the second half 6/1.
