The US Open 2024 is only in its third turn and Novak Djokovic is already writing a new line in the history of tennis, branded even more with the hot iron of his pugnacity.
By beating his compatriot Laslo Djere (6-4, 6-4, 2-0 then retirement), in a heavy and stormy New York night, the world number 2 validated his 90th success at the US Open, which now means that he is the only player to have won at least 90 matches in each of the Grand Slams! The Serb’s counter thus shows 94 successes at the Australian Open, 96 at Roland-Garros, 97 at Wimbledon and 90 at the US Open (i.e., to summarize: 94, 96, 97, 90). For comparison, Roger Federer displays the following numbers in the same sequence: 102, 73, 105, 89 and Rafael Nadal, these: 77, 112, 58, 67.
