The champion of 24 Majors, who is experiencing his 409th week as number one on the planet, spoke to the media about his relationship with the young competitors and the relationship he had with his two great rivals of the time, Roger Federer and Rafal Nadal.
“Joking aside, I really enjoy the rivalries I have with all those guys. Alcaraz, Medvedev, Sinner and everyone near the top I get along quite well. If I had to compare my relationship with them with the one I had with Federer and Nadal, the relationship with my younger teammates is much better, more pleasant.
I enjoy it. I don’t know why, it’s just more open, young people are more communicative. We just get along better, that’s all,” explained Novak Djokovic. Djokovic also talked about the end of his career and highlighted his rivalry with Nadal once again.
“I don’t have any particular regrets or it would mean anything to me to finish alongside Nadal. They are two of my biggest rivals, especially Nadal, as I have said numerous times, and that will never change.
The amount of energy spent on our rivalry over all these years, how many times we faced each other… It is impossible for me to face Alcaraz sixty times. That will not be possible because he will finish his career before me,” Novak Djokovic added with a laugh.
