Sinner, seeded eighth, started the first game in the worst way possible, as Djokovic immediately took his serve and practically had to climb back from a 3:0 deficit. The Italian brought his serves, but he couldn’t take Djokovic’s, so he quickly fell behind in a set.
The second set resulted in a closer scenario than this, the Serbian icon, ranked second in the world rankings, was able to break in the third set, and this again proved to be enough for success – Sinner fought hard, but could not crush his 36-year-old opponent.
In the third game, the Italian fought to stay in the match, and this time he was able to compete with Djokovic. Both sides brought their own serves, and even though Sinner had two set points at 5:4, he was unable to close the game, so the decision remained on shortening. The Serb could handle this better, so he can fight for the eighth Wimbledon trophy of his career with the winner of the battle between Alcaraz and Medvedev.
