Novak Djokovic breaks Grand Slam win record

Having admitted it himself, Novak Djokovic is chasing the Grand Slam record books before retiring. The Serbian is in a never-ending battle with rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for supremacy.

The 3 players are currently tied at 20 Grand Slams each, and it looks like they haven’t stopped yet. At the current US Open 2021, Djokovic broke another Grand Slam record that no one else has been able to break.

In a career spanning nearly two decades, Djokovic has accumulated numerous records. For a long time, he has been the best player in the world and currently ranks first as well.

In 2021, the Serbian has had a magnificent start. He has achieved one victory after another on all surfaces. Especially in the Grand Slams, Djokovic has yet to be beaten this year. This has earned him a special record, which has never been achieved before.

After his first round win at Flushing Meadows, the world number one became the first player to claim 76 wins in all four Grand Slams. He beat Holger Rune in the round of 128, bringing his win count at the US Open to 76.

In addition, he has 82, 81 and 79 victories at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon, respectively. No one else, not even his other two great rivals, has accomplished this feat yet. The Serbian pursues a calendar Grand Slam

This year has been very special for the 34-year-old.

He began his campaign in Melbourne, where he conquered Daniil Medvedev to claim another Australian Open crown. In the months that followed, Djokovic captured another title and worked on his clay court game.

At Roland Garros, he accomplished one of the most difficult tasks in tennis: beating Rafael Nadal on the court Philippe Chatrier. After winning the title in France, he achieved success at Wimbledon just a month later.

Heading into August, Djokovic was in line for the unthinkable Golden Slam (all four Slams + Olympic gold). However, fatigue and workload took its toll on the Serbian as he was unable to take home a medal.

He then decided to take a short break, before returning to the circuit for the US Open. Now, Novak Djokovic pursues history, aiming to achieve the exemplary record of winning all four Grand Slams in the same calendar year.

The US Open 2021 will be of vital importance for Novak Djokovic. A win will not only get you the Calendar Grand Slam, but you will also take the lead over Federer and Nadal in the Slams race.

Can do it? Or will someone deny him the glory? We will receive the answers to our questions shortly.
