Nova Lituania recognized as the best feature film of the last year in Lithuania / Article / LSM.lv

Lithuania’s national film award – “Silver Crane” – as the best feature film of the past year, this time received the debut film “Nova Lituania” by director Karolis Kaupins. decided to nominate Oscar for the US Film Academy. –

In a competition of almost 40 films, “Nova Lituania” has won the most awards, including for the best work of a director, screenwriter, film artist and supporting actress and actor.

The awards were presented this year after a year break – last year the evaluation and awards did not take place in connection with the bankruptcy of the Lithuanian Film Academy, therefore in some nominations awards were also given for the best performance of the previous year.

The best feature film of 2019 was director Marija Kavtaradze’s film “Summer Survivors”, which also received the audience award “Vox populi”, but “Silver Crane” was awarded to the best actress for her work in this film by Indre Patkauskaite.

The best actor’s award for the role in the Latvian director Juris Kursieš’s film “Oleg” was given to Valentin Novopolsky, but producer Luks Trimonis for his work on this film, which was made in collaboration with Latvia, Lithuania, Belgium and France, was awarded the nomination for best co-production.

Rasa Samolīte and Vaidots Martinaitis in the film “Nova Lituania” have been recognized as the best supporting actress and actors.

This year, for the first time, an award was presented in the nomination “Green Cranberry” for a film that encourages living in harmony with nature. It was received by the creators of director Rugile Barzdžukaite’s film “Sour Forest”.

Latvian audiences have already had the opportunity to see all the mentioned films.

The Silver Crane ceremony was originally scheduled to take place at Vilnius’ Siemens Arena, but due to Covid-19, the organizers changed their plans, presenting the laureates in safe conditions and allowing spectators to virtually follow the awards ceremony, which was staged as an event in a mystified cinema. it is watched by a single spectator, who was embodied and supplemented with his comments by the humorist Mants Bartuševičs.
