Nova completely blew Czech TV. Moravec doesn’t know what to do now, he hasn’t experienced this before

The Czech television market is experiencing considerable turbulence. After the end of the long-term director of Czech Television, Petr Dvořák, it can even be said that the foundations are shaking. It turns out that this man held many behind-the-scenes deals, and the executives of other television stations did not think much of him. Now, however, they see that CT is significantly weakened, and they are really digging into it.

It’s going to be tough

Perhaps you have also wondered why TV Nova did not broadcast any regular Sunday debate for a long time. At the same time, this genre once celebrated great success on the largest private station, but then unexpectedly disappeared. According to insider information, it was because there was an unwritten agreement between CT and Nova that they would not go against Václav Moravec’s Questions and that they simply would not engage in this format.

In the end, only Prima had to do it for private stations, but it is only the third player in the back, even though the Sunday debate is very watched and since it has been broadcast, Moravac’s viewership has been decreasing. And now imagine if Nova started broadcasting something like that.

Well, it’s here. The show is called Za five minut twelve, and in the advertising campaign it was positioned directly as the opposite of OVM, when it had funny allusions to it. At the same time, it will be Václav Moravec who will lose the most by this, as the attention of the spectators, which is only one on Sunday noon, will be diluted even more. And it is certain that Nova will attract a large number of them.

It’s thoughtful

She also proves that she really believes in herself by betting on the moderator, whom she really surprised. He became Martin Čermák, who is not exactly a star face. It must be added that here Nova had a slightly more difficult choice. Although one would have expected him to give a chance to Rey Koranteng, who has been preparing hit election specials until now, it was ultimately decided that it was not the best after the host had messed up the last few quite a bit. The second choice was then Pavel Štrunc, who came from rival CNN Prima News, but it turned out that he still had a valid non-compete clause.

In the end, however, it may turn out that the bet on the not very aggressive Čermák will be the right one. He manages the flow of the debate relatively well, and at the same time does not excessively jump into the guests’ speech, which the viewers are becoming more allergic to recently and which is Moravec’s specialty. Today, they prefer to listen to the comprehensive opinion of the guest and what he has to say.

From Nova’s side, it can also be read as a certain compliment to Czech Television, which now wants to increase concessionaire fees and, in addition, to expand the range of their payers. In addition, it siphons more and more money from advertising budgets. Private stations fear that an even stronger juggernaut will emerge that will compete with them in the creation of programs or the purchase of sports rights.
