There is a new goalkeeper ready to defend Nottingham Forest’s net. On Thursday night, Matz Sels was announced as a reinforcement for the team coached by Nuno Espírito Santo.
At 31 years of age, the Belgian goalkeeper will return to English football. After playing for Newcastle in 2016/17, Selz signed a contract with Forest valid for three and a half seasons – the transfer fees were not made official.
With several spells in Belgian football under his belt, Selz rose to prominence at Strasbourg, the team he has defended since 2018.
At Nottingham, currently 16th in the Premier League, the Belgian will face competition from Matt Turner (ex-Arsenal) and Odysseas Vlachodimos (ex-Benfica), for a place in the first position in front of the net.
