Former kickboxer and controversial online influencer Andrew Tate has been arrested in Romania. He is suspected of human trafficking and rape, among other things. Briton Tate was discredited in 2016 when he was kicked off the TV show Big Brother. He was filmed assaulting a woman. He gained fame online thanks to that action.
Prosecutors confirm the arrest of 36-year-old Tate. His brother Tristan was also arrested. In a statement, they said the brothers “are believed to have set up a criminal organization for the purpose of recruiting, harboring and exploiting women by forcing them to produce pornography that can be viewed online for a fee.” Tate and his brother would have made a lot of money.
Tate was kicked out of Big Brother six years ago. She then tweeted that “women must take responsibility for sexual abuse.” You were subsequently banned from that medium as well as other social media such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
When Elon Musk bought Twitter, Tate’s account was reinstated. In recent years, her posts promoting misogyny have been viewed millions of times on other sites as well.
Romanian authorities have released a video of the arrest. Tate and her brother will be held captive for at least 24 hours. Earlier this week, Tate was also in the spotlight for telling Greta Thunberg that he has 33 cars “that put out a lot of emissions.” The climate activist then replied in a tweet, asking him to “get a life”.
