Making fake liquor: Notorious criminal arrested in Coimbatore
Alappuzha ∙ The district crime branch caught the notorious criminal who was supplying spirit for the manufacture of fake liquor after monitoring for 2 years. Anil (49), a native of Thiruvananthapuram Valappil, was arrested from Karamatai, Coimbatore on Sunday. On December 11, 2021, he was under police surveillance in connection with the massive fake liquor hunt conducted by the police in Ambalapuzha Karur. However, the police did not get any clue about the movements of the accused who did not use the phone in his own name.
He was arrested from a farmhouse in Coimbatore. Fake liquor was also being manufactured there. The case has been handed over to the Tamil Nadu Police. He told the police that he had taken the farm house on lease. The accused was remanded by the Ambalapuzha court. Thousands of bottles of fake liquor and spirit were seized from a house in Ambalapuzha Karur. Four people were arrested that day. They got information that it was Anil who was delivering the spirit to them but could not find him.
A long investigation by the crime branch has now yielded results. Since 2006, Anil has been in the business of smuggling fake liquor and spirit, but he has not been caught in any case in Kerala. It is reported that Anil was involved in vehicle theft and smuggling of spirit in stolen vehicles. Permanent residence is in Bengaluru. Although the police are looking for him in many cases in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, he has not been caught there either. When he was arrested, 8 ordinary mobile phones were also seized from him. He does not use smartphone etc.
A phone number will be used only to call his wife in Bengaluru. He was leading a luxurious life in Bengaluru. Lives near Electronic City. Children study in high fee schools. He used to arrange SIM cards through them by getting in touch with the liquor shops in Tamil Nadu. They are used for ‘operation.’ The police had no way of tracing him as he did not even have a phone number in his name. As per the instructions of the District Police Chief, a special team was formed and the investigation continued.
We got information that Anil comes to Kerala from time to time and returns directly after receiving the money for the spirit, but could not find the person. No one knew anything more about him. He found his wife’s house in Thiruvananthapuram and searched that way too. However, it turned out that he had nothing to do with it. After a lot of work, the crime branch team found his house in Bengaluru. The police team settled in a house on the opposite side. He could not be caught as he sometimes used to come there secretly. The police found that even seeing his wife was somewhere far away.
Once the police arrived in front of the gate in disguise to get the number of the car in front of his house, but immediately all the lights in the house and outside went off. And that attempt also failed. In 2021, 2000 half liter bottles of fake liquor, spirit, packing machine, bottles, fake labels etc. were seized during the fake liquor hunt in Ambalapuzha Karur. 10,000 bottles and a sack of lids were seized that day. 4 accused were arrested in the following days.
