Since “Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina” will not have a 5th season, there will no longer be the hoped-for crossover with “Riverdale” on Netflix. Nevertheless, there are also references to the sister series in the final 4th season or the 4th part.
With the fourth season (or, according to Netflix, the fourth part), the “Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina” has now come to an end on the streaming service. All viewers who hoped that the last eight episodes of the series would finally come to a full crossover with the teen mystery hit “Riverdale” were (again) disappointed.
Although it has already been hinted at several times – after all, the comic book templates of the two series are already part of one and the same universe – the young witch Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) did not meet Archie (KJ Apa) and Co. at her farewell performance either. Still, season 4 makes no secret of the fact that the two series are set in the same world …
“Riverdale” references in Season 4 “Sabrina”
In the fourth part of “Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina” there are several direct mentions of the town of Riverdale, which you can easily ignore.
To the first it already comes in episode 1 (“Chapter 29: Ghostly Darkness”). Here Roz (Jaz Sinclair) complains to her friends that there are no sex education classes at her high school in Greendale, while there are even condom machines in the toilets in the school in the neighboring village of Riverdale.

The second Riverdale reference in the “Sabrina” final also concerns the school of Archie’s clique. In episode 3 (“Chapter 31: The Strange”), a boy named Lucas (Ben Ahlers) visits Baxter High in Greendale for a very short time. When Sabrina later finds out where he has gone after the dramatic events of the episode, her teacher explains to her: “To my knowledge, he was transferred to Riverdale High.”
And finally, in episode 6 (“Chapter 34: The Revenants”) there is a hidden actor allusionwhich may not be a direct “Riverdale” connection, but should be a targeted Easter egg. So Sean Depner, Sarah Desjardins and Doralynn Mui complete a guest appearance together as a rock band that met a bad fate. All three played as Brett, Donna and Joan, students of the Stonewall Prep boarding school, already played bigger roles in “Riverdale”.

Crossover still possible – but not on Netflix
As author Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the creative mind behind both “Sabrina” and “Riverdale”, suggested on Twitter, it would be in a fifth part of “Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina”, which should be subtitled “Witch War” probably actually came to a direct clash of his two series.
Since Netflix has not extended “Sabrina” any more, it will probably not be added in series. Aguirre-Sacasa promised that the crossover would be delivered as a comic instead:
5th season “Riverdale” soon on Netflix
While “Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina” has now ended, “Riverdale” continues. After Corona delays, the fifth season is finally in the starting blocks – and it is not only waiting for Archie and his friends to graduate from high school, but also with a subsequent leap in time that will change a lot.
The fifth “Riverdale” season starts in Germany on January 21, 2021 on Netflix. The episodes will then be published as usual on a weekly basis.
And who knows, maybe in the “Riverdale” future one or the other character from “Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina” will stop by …
