Shanghai Municipal Government has issued a notice regarding the strengthening of safety checks for public transportation during the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE). The notice aims to maintain public safety and ensure the smooth operation of the expo.
According to the notice, public transportation operators are required to strictly implement safety check measures for passengers and their belongings. In addition to regular safety checks, random inspections should be increased to identify suspicious individuals and items. This is to prevent passengers from carrying dangerous items such as flammable, explosive, toxic, radioactive, corrosive substances, as well as firearms, ammunition, and controlled tools that may pose a threat to personal and property safety.
Citizens are urged to cooperate with safety checks when using public transportation such as subway, buses, long-distance coaches, and ferries. They are encouraged to actively discourage others from carrying dangerous items and report such incidents to the transportation operators or the police.
Public transportation staff members who encounter passengers carrying dangerous items or refusing safety checks should refuse their entry onto public transportation. If passengers persist in carrying dangerous items, the incident should be immediately reported to the police.
Violations of the notice, including carrying dangerous items on public transportation or refusing safety checks, which disrupt public order, will be subject to penalties according to the Law on Public Security Administration. If the violations constitute a crime, criminal responsibility will be pursued in accordance with the law.
The notice will be effective from October 25, 2023, until November 12, 2023.
