A hellish month. Since March 12, OGC Nice can no longer win. Rather interesting since Christophe Galtier took office, the Aiglons, led by an excellent Amine Gouiri, were systematically in the top three since the start of the calendar year. They alternated between second and third place, far behind the Parisian leader. But in one month, the residents of the Allianz Riviera have lost big.

Indeed, they have not won since four games and the victory against PSG (1-0, March 5). Thus, Nice conceded a draw (0-0) against Montpellier on March 12. Then, the Azureans followed up with a very important defeat against OM, a competitor in the race for the podium, on March 20 (2-1). The OGCN also dropped points against Stade Rennais, another opponent for the podium, on April 2 (1-1). Finally, the people of Nice were beaten yesterday by Lens.
Nice no longer wins
A heavy 3-0 defeat which has consequences in Ligue 1. Second after the draw against MHSC, the Aiglons continued to drop in the standings day after day. They are currently fifth with 51 points in 31 matches played (15 wins, 7 draws, 9 losses). The two points taken out of the twelve in play in recent weeks have hurt. The six goals conceded in the last three matches too.
Offensively, the Riviera team is less effective with only two goals scored in 4 matches. Annoyed after this new setback yesterday, Christophe Galtier cut his players. “Nice played a Lens team with real competitors and Lens played a Nice team where players came as tourists. This is unacceptable. This must lead to much more humility. When you do not respect the game, the balance, you are sanctioned. The victory of Lens is logical”.

He then added: “far too many players have foiled. We’ll see what happens next… We have a headache. To tell you that I’m ashamed, I’m not far from it. I dare to hope that we are not throwing away the eight months that we have done. It would be a shame and disrespectful to let yourself go in this way.. In free fall in the standings, Nice sees Marseille (2nd, 59 points) and Rennes (3rd, 56 points) take the lead. Strasbourg (4th, 52 points) also passed.
But in addition to looking ahead, Andy Delort’s teammates are also obliged to look in their rear view mirror. Indeed, Monaco (50 points), Lille (48 points), Lens (47 points), Lyon (47 points) and Nantes (47 points) are all on the lookout. The end of the season is therefore likely to be crazy for Nice who will play 5 times at home (Lorient, Troyes, Nantes, ASSE and LOSC) and will challenge Monaco, Bordeaux and Reims. Until then, Galtier, who will play the final of the Coupe de France, hopes to find the recipe for success he had so far.
