KONTAN.CO.ID – WILMINGTON. United States President-elect Joe Biden said Tuesday that nothing will stop the transfer of power in the US government, despite President Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated allegations that last week’s election was marred by fraud.

Reuters preaching, Biden smiled when asked about US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s statement predicting a second Trump administration, as world leaders including British Prime Minister Boris Johnson congratulated Democrats and pledged to work together.

Biden got the more than 270 votes at Electoral College he needed to take over the presidency by winning Pennsylvania on Saturday after four tense counting days, which were postponed by soaring ballots due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump has made the unsubstantiated claim that fraud ruined election results. Attorney General William Barr and Senate Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have signaled they support Trump’s right to launch lawsuits over the outcome in some battleground states such as Pennsylvania.

Biden said in a speech in Delaware that his team was pushing for the formation of a new government for the takeover of power on US Inauguration Day, January 20, 2021, no matter what.

“We will go out, move together, consistently, draw up our administration, the White House, and review who we will vote for the Cabinet position, and nothing will stop that,” he said.

Biden said it was “shameful” that Trump did not recognize the election results.

Pompeo, a Trump loyalist, said at a State Department press conference on Tuesday that any “valid” vote counts, it would lead to a “second Trump administration.”
