Side Aspect during the Weltcup-Super-G at Beaver Creek. Chilean Henrik von Appen, who was out for more than two years after knee surgery, finished rather unnoticed in 14th place, just behind three-time Olympic champion Mathias Mayer. Von Appen had already made his name at the World Championships in Are 19 when he crossed the finish line with a torn cruciate ligament.

NORDIC SKI. Ski Jumping World Cup in Lillehammer. Interval leader Eva Pinkelnig took the podium in third place after a second jump accompanied by gusts of wind. Norway celebrated a double victory with Opseth and Ström.

SPEED SKATING. Junior World Cup in Finland (Open Air): The 17-year-old Alexander Farthofer from Tyrol achieved the best result among the young Austrians in the youth category with 6th place in the mass start. Farthofer finished eleventh in the 1500m, 16-year-old Jeannine Rosner, one of the youngest participants, finished twelfth three times (500m/1500m/mass start).
