On September 7, in the free microphone of “Rainis cepiena” held at Rainis and Aspazija’s house, one could joke about everything that Rainis likes or dislikes. Four participants had applied for the free microphone. Almost everyone has a deep and profound interest in the great spirit of our poetry, however, as the organizers of the free microphone conclude – to joke about Raini, it takes a lot of courage, so there were not too many participants.
The free microphone of “Rainis Biscuit” had gathered so many listeners that part of the event was followed by standing or sitting by the open hall windows. Elvira Blom, the head of the free microphone, specialist of the Rainis and Aspazija Museum, introduced me to the upcoming event.
The jury is greeted with loud applause – Aiva Birbele and Raimonds Ķirķis, followed by the first performance: Lolita Tomsone, director of the Žanas Lipke Memorial, who has lived in Jerusalem for many years. Her chosen theme was: “Rainis & Tomsone in Palestine 1929/2019”.

The next teacher, Ilze Mazpane, went to the free microphone to prove her special relationship with Rainis, she had taken some artifacts from her life for about 20 years.

The speech was followed by a call to my mother and a confirmation that Rainis had made the biggest impression on Ilze. She ended her performance with a song, of course, in Rainis’ words.
The next participant Kristīne Plone from VEF Theater wanted to reveal some unknown facts about Rainis, namely that Rainis was engaged in underwater sports.

In turn, the performance of the poetess Elvita Rakštīte was open, and she admitted that she can participate in the Poetry Days at least in this way, because she is not invited to read poetry.

After each performance, the audience also presented their assessment together with the jury.
According to the jury and the audience, the first place was shared by Lolita Tomsone and Elvita Rakštīte.
“The free microphone of the Rainis bakery” will take place on Monday, September 7, and on Friday, September 11, the birthday of the Rainis and Poetry Days, at the Rainis and Aspazija Museum.Rainbread in the fire and at night”, In which four comedians joke about Rainis and Rainis’ famous play.
