It seems that the Notepad app in Windows 11 will also get tabs in due course. Previously, Microsoft has already done the same for Explorer.
Notepad, or Notepad in English, has been in Windows for decades as a simple but handy note-taking tool or file editor. But it looks like Notepad will be getting an update with tabs soon. This way you can open multiple text files in the same app.
A Microsoft employee displayed images of Notepad with two tabs open on Twitter. That feature would be in an internal release of Windows 11, when it’s not formally implemented in all releases it’s unclear.
The tweet in question was later deleted, but Central windows could still save the image in question. The fact that the screenshot literally states that this is a confidential feature that may not be shared probably has something to do with it.
The expansion isn’t a big surprise. Earlier this year it became known that File Explorer (Explorer) in Windows 11 tabs. However, that feature will not come to Windows 10, presumably it will also be the case with tabs in Notepad.
