Recently, cases of COVID-19 infection in a number of countries have jumped again. One of the things that is said to be the cause is the emergence of new Omicron subvariants namely BA.5 and BA.4.
Both variants are the cause of the most cases. However, health experts say they have not found strong evidence that these BA.5 and BA.4 can cause more serious symptoms than the previous Corona variants.
“The BA.5 variant in particular, is really driving this wave of COVID-19. And could lead to hospital cases reaching their highest level in 18 months in the UK,” said the UK’s most senior health official, Dr Jenny Harries. page National World, Monday (11/7/2022).

Therefore, Dr Harries urges people to return to wearing masks, both in crowded and closed places. He also recommended that the health protocols be carried out again, such as washing hands and keeping a distance to reduce the risk of spreading infection.
According to data from the ZOE Covid Study application, there are 10 symptoms of BA.5 and BA.4 that are now widely reported. Here are the symptoms:
1. Runny nose or runny nose
This symptom was reported by 66 percent of users of the Covid ZOE application. A runny nose or runny nose is one of the main symptoms of Omicron. This can also be a symptom of the common cold or flu, but if you feel unwell, get tested for COVID-19 immediately or isolate until your condition improves.
2. Sore throat
As many as 65 percent of people report a sore throat that occurs early in infection. It is recommended to consume plenty of fluids to help ease the pain.
3. Headache
Headaches are often one of the earliest signs of infection and are now much more common than fever or loss of sense of taste and smell. As many as 64 percent of people reported these symptoms on the ZOE Covid app.
A Norwegian study also found that people infected with Covid were more likely to experience moderate to severe headaches, or experience a throbbing or stabbing pain in the head.
4. Cough continuously
A persistent cough is one of the classic symptoms of COVID-19. This is usually experienced by about 4 in 10 people who test positive. Symptoms of this cough can occur many times, for half a day or more, and feel very dry.
5. Fatigue (mild and severe)
These symptoms were reported by 62 percent of people associated with Omicron, as well as previous types of Corona variants. Usually these symptoms last between 5-8 days and make the patient feel tired, even after resting or sleeping well.
6. Sneeze
More than 50 percent of people infected with COVID-19 report sneezing as a symptom on the ZOE Covid app. Interestingly, it tends to be more common among people who have been vaccinated and then test positive for COVID-19.
7. Hoarse voice
People infected with Omicron have reported experiencing hoarseness before starting to feel unwell. Studies have found an association between Covid and vocal cord mobility, with infection increasing the risk of vocal cord paralysis due to peripheral nerve damage. This is an early sign of infection and will usually cause a sore throat.
8. Unusual joint pain
Unusual body aches and pains are reported as symptoms of all variants of Corona. Some patients infected with Omicron complain of low back pain. Pain should only last for a few days and will usually occur early in the illness.
9. Fever
Fever typically affects about 4 in 10 people infected with Covid, according to the ZOE Covid study. For those under 65, having a temperature above 37.8 Celsius is most likely a sign of the coronavirus. For those over the age of 65 or very thin, a reading above 37.4 Celsius can indicate an infection.
10. Shivering
Feeling chills or chills is a common response to a bacterial or viral infection that causes a fever. Zoe Covid’s study says fever usually occurs in the first week of illness and tends to progress fairly quickly.
