Cody Gakpo he officially became a player Liverpool. So when will she make her debut? This is the answer from the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool have moved quietly and quickly to complete the transfer of Cody Gakpo. The 23-year-old winger was signed by PSV for £37m which has the potential to rise to £50m.
This signing will be a valuable injection for the Liverpool front row, who have lost two players to injury. Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota are known to be sidelined until at least March.
Meanwhile, Liverpool also had to recover from an inconsistent first half, especially in the Premier League. They exited the title race and are now sixth in the table, 15 points behind top Arsenal.
So when will Liverpool start playing Cody Gakpo? Liverpool’s closest match is against Leicester City on 31 December, but Gakpo cannot play yet as he can only be registered from 1 January.
Liverpool will then visit Brentford, but Juergen Klopp also doubts the paperwork will be finished for this match. Gakpo is most likely to appear in his next match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 8 January.
“Obviously we finished him very early which is good. Maybe there was a chance for a debut against Brentford but how come he doesn’t feel like it,” said Klopp. Metro.
“January 1st was a public holiday and there were some papers we had to sign for some people and it had to be done no later than lunchtime. I’m not sure that’s going to happen.”
“We won’t be rushing, so maybe against Wolves. He’s a very, very good player so the package is very attractive,” he added.
