Dr. Rana Al-Hajjah, director of the Program Department at the WHO Regional Office, revealed the expected date for the emergence of the emerging corona virus vaccine and the start of its distribution to countries.
Al-Hujjah said, in an interview with Masrawy to be published later, that “it is difficult at the present time to set a deadline for the provision of the vaccine, but according to the data we have on clinical trials, it is expected that the Covid-19 vaccine will be ready for distribution by mid-2021.”
She explained that there are 180 candidate vaccines within the framework of solidarity trials coordinated by the World Health Organization, and among these vaccines, about 35 vaccines have entered the third phase of trials, i.e. the phase concerned with clinical testing of the vaccine on humans to ensure the safety, safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.
Al-Hujjah added that there are a large number of vaccines in the first and second stages, and it is expected to enter the third stage in the next two months, and this is the largest vaccine portfolio ever.
