Minister of State -Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Eric Thohir said the price of fuel oil (BBM) Pertamax rose April 1, 2022. This is in line with the increase in world crude oil prices which penetrated more than US$ 100 per barrel.
“The government has decided, Pertalite is a subsidy, Pertamax is not. So if Pertamax goes up, I apologize. Pertalite is a subsidy,” Erick said in a Public Lecture: Millennials and Digital Encourage National Economic Growth, quoted Wednesday (30/3).
Previously, Pertamina’s Acting Corporate Secretary Patra Niaga (PPN) Subholding Commercial and Trading Pertamina Irto Ginting said his party was still studying to increase the price of Pertamax.
“Not yet (will raise on April 1). Still under study,” Irto told CNNIndonesia.com.
Special Staff of the Ministry of SOEs Arya Sinulingga said the economic price of Pertamax was Rp. 14,500 per liter. However, Pertamina only sells Pertamax for IDR 9,500 per liter now.
“It can be said that the position is Pertamina subsidizing Pertamax. This clearly means that Pertamina is subsidizing luxury cars that use Pertamax, so it needs to be recalculated,” said Arya.
According to Arya, the price of Pertamax fuel in Southeast Asia is Rp. 14 thousand to Rp. 15 thousand per liter. Meanwhile, the price of special pertamax in Malaysia is cheaper because the government provides subsidies with a certain mechanism.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources itself opens the opportunity to set an upper limit on the price of Pertamax fuel of IDR 16,000 per liter. This is because the price of world crude oil is still high above US$ 100 per barrel.
The head of the Communications Bureau of the Public Information Service and the Supreme Private Cooperation, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is the main cause of the increase in world crude oil prices. This is because crude oil stocks from Russia and Kazakhstan were disrupted due to damage to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium pipeline, resulting in reduced supplies to the European Union.
“By considering the March oil price which was much higher than February, the economic price or the upper limit of general fuel RON 92 April 2022 will be even higher than Rp 14,526 per liter, it could be around Rp 16,000 per liter,” explained Agung.
