They also almost literally threaten to become figs after Easter (Easter falls on April 17 this year): while the government promises that the VAT on gas will be reduced from April, energy suppliers fear that this will become practically unfeasible. Marc Van den Bosch of Febeg, the federation of energy companies, asks for some time, so that the gas suppliers can adjust their billing.
Because the invoices for April are already being prepared, Van den Bosch proposes to charge 21% VAT for the advance invoices for April, possibly also for the May invoices.
“After that, we can then settle the difference in the final bills so that the customer will also receive every euro that the government promises.” The same happened earlier this year, when the VAT on electricity was reduced.
