Former Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto has been permanently dismissed from the membership of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI). It is certain that it is not related to the Nusantara vaccine, so what are the considerations?
The newly elected MKEK IDI chairman, Dr. Djoko Widyarto, said that there had been a long process regarding indications of ethical violations before it was finally decided.
“I think if you look at medical practice, it says that doctor professionalism involves 3 components. The last one is sometimes forgotten, this professional attitude is medical ethics as we understand that every profession is always marked by a professional code of ethics,” explained dr. Djoko in a press conference on Thursday (31/3/2022).
“If I read what was decided in the last trial, there were many considerations. That’s what we really have to understand together, what we did yesterday at the congress was a long process,” he continued.
Dr. Joko emphasized that in 2018 the Court of Justice was given 28 days for IDI to decide on the status of Dr. Terawan. The verdict was finally continued at the Muktamar session in Banda Aceh, March 25, 2022 after previously being stopped.
“It was a long process, it turned out that the 2018 decision had not yet been implemented, meaning that its implementation had been postponed with special considerations. After it was enforced in October 2019, there was a letter from the General Chairperson of PB IDI stating that the sanctions had come into effect,” he concluded.
