Not only parrots, this is proof that ducks can imitate human speech since 1987 and swear by their owners

A male duck named Ripper can also be heard imitating the sound of a door slamming.

RAKYATKU.COM — It doesn’t make sense. But that’s the fact. An old record was found. Ducks can imitate human voices.

Researcher Carel ten Cate of the Leiden Institute of Biology of the University of Leiden in the Netherlands found an audio recording of an Australian musk duck recorded in 1987.

After being able to imitate human speech, the duck was also heard to swear. One way is to say, “You idiot!”

So far only parrots, elephants, and whales are known to imitate humans. It turns out that even ducks can be trained intensively.

“A male duck named Ripper can also be heard mimicking the sound of a door slamming,” said ten Cate in an article in Leiden University, Monday (6/9/2021).

“This was a big surprise. Because even though the bird was recorded 35 years ago, it remains unnoticed by researchers in the field of vocal learning until now,” said ten Cate in the article.
