Not only for gaming, the camera is also okay

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Asus re-spawned the new Republic of Gamers (ROG) series Android phone ROG Phone 5.

The series is the latest mobile product which is the successor, ROG Phone 2 and 3.

ROG Phone 5 is indeed known as a capable gaming phone. The reason is, Asus always embeds functions overclock known as X Mode on their ROG line of phones. So, performance chipset that they use in this phone is pushed to the limit.

Even when testing using benchmark applications, Asus also forces users to activate this X Mode. So, ROG was at the peak of performance when tested. No wonder this phone managed to collect scores that outperformed various benchmark scores of other phones with ease.

Also, after trying this phone, CNNIndonesia.com also find interesting things that are rarely discussed. Many testers have discussed the ROG 5’s gaming capabilities, which there is no doubt about. However, the photo capabilities of the camera provided by this phone are also interesting to discuss.

The combination of Sony’s lenses plus Snapdragon 888’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for processing images, shows its toughness here. This camera is able to take pictures satisfactorily even in situations with very dark shadows.

In Indonesia, the ROG Phone 5 series is available in three ROM variants. ROG Phone 5 with 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM, priced at IDR 9,999 million, for 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM for IDR 14,999 million, and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate with 18GB RAM and 512GB ROM for IDR 18,999 million.

Here is more discussion about ASUS ROG Phone 5.

Appearance

Asus seems to be paying a lot of attention to the ROG Phone 5 this time around. The reason is, there are many details that Asus has thought of for this gaming phone.

Users will be pampered from the first time they unpack the phone. When turning on the phone for the first time, the user will be asked to scan the image contained in the package. These images then become videos that come to life on the Asus screen with AR technology with Akira’s character. From the packaging, Akira’s adventure then continues on the cellphone screen.

Continuing to discuss the phone body, Asus wrapped the ROG 5 with glossy plastic that resembles glass with a metal frame. However, this body design makes ROG 5 slippery and easy to slip out of your hands.

Luckily, Asus immediately provided a bonus plastic protective case in the purchase package. The plastic case is matte and textured, which helps to keep the phone from slipping when gripped. In addition, this case is also designed to be thin when attached to the phone body which does not increase the thickness (bulky) phone when pinned.

However, this phone feels heavy and has a fairly thick body. The reason is, this phone must place a 6,000 mAh battery which of course takes up space and adds to the weight of the phone.
