Not Only Breathing, Covid-19 Also Affects Sexual Arousal

Suara.com – Corona virus Covid-19 not just a respiratory disease. Covid-19 is also a psychologically affecting disease that changes people’s ideas about love, relationships and love sexual desire.

Launching from Times of India, many factors can cause low sex drive in humans. This ranges from unhealthy relationships to physical and mental conditions.

Chronic illness, stress, troubled relationships, alcohol and drug abuse and aging may be some of the main reasons behind sex drive the low.

In relation to Covid-19, a study in China published in July in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, found that of the 459 participants, 25 percent experienced a decrease in sexual desire due to the coronavirus pandemic.

While there is no direct link between the coronavirus disease and sex drive, experts have indicated that the global pandemic may have led to lower sex drive in both men and women.

When your body is under stress and anxiety, it releases hormones called cortisol and epinephrine. If this hormone is released in excess, it can decrease sex drive.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that the current pandemic can cause stress and anxiety in humans. This in turn could suggest that indirectly the Covid-19 crisis may have caused a decrease in libido in both men and women.
