Yamaha Indonesia no longer has a 110 cc engine line up. The manufacturer, bearing the tuning fork symbol, now only wants to enliven the entry level scooter with a 125 cc engine, why?
In fact, talking about the engine capacity of the motorbike that most Indonesians are interested in is the 110 cc engine.
According to AISI data obtained by detikOto, Monday (15/1/2018), the 110 cc engine motorcycles sold 2,871,285 units. That figure consists of 155,569 units of manual type 110 cc motorcycles and 2,715,716 units of 110 cc scooter types. Currently, Honda manufacturers sell the most motorcycles with such cubication.
Different with Yamaha, increasingly expanding the wings of scooters in the 125 cc class, the latest Yamaha Gear accompanies the Mio S, Mio M3, X-Ride, Fino, and Freego.
“So Yamaha has decided to no longer play at 110 cc, with a minimum 125 engine, more consumers can win a lot with a more powerful engine, have more power but are still economical,” said Anton on the sidelines of a Yamaha Gear test ride, Bogor. Thursday (3/12/2020).
Furthermore, Anton said that the latest Yamaha Gear which is sold at a low price for the 110 cc scooter is not suitable when juxtaposed with the Honda Beat or Suzuki Next.
“And if you really want to be compared to 125, not 110 cc. If you compare it with 110, the edges will be the material to be compared, maybe the most frequent fuel consumption, maybe logically it is still economical 110 cc, but why does Yamaha not play 110 cc, because we want to provide differentiation to consumers, if it is only 110 cc or just chasing economical, so only get economical. “
“But with the Bluecore 125 engine you get more, it is economical and still powerful because the engine is 125 cc,” said Anton.
Apart from engine capacity, scooters are still the prima donna of Indonesian society. In the AISI 2019 sales report as many as 5 million scooters were successfully distributed, then from January to October 2020, 2.4 million scooters took the floor to dealers throughout the sales network.
