Last night came the news that Lionel Messi will not continue in Barcelona after his contract expires.
As a result of the decision, rumors have started circulating about the Argentine’s future, where there has been talk of PSG – but also Manchester City, where the former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is now.
At a press conference on Friday, Guardiola spoke about the Messi situation.
– It looked like he would end his career in Barcelona, so it’s a surprise for everyone, even for me. “I think President Joan Laporta was clear today about the reasons behind it,” Guardiola told the BBC.
He continues:
– I have not talked to the player or the president and I think both would have liked to continue together, but when you lose a lot of money in one year – the decision has been made.
Yesterday, Manchester City presented Jack Grealish as a new acquisition, in a signing that became the most expensive ever for an English club of approximately 1.2 billion. According to Guardiola, City are currently not interested in picking up Messi as well.
– Grealish will be number ten, because we are convinced that he is the right player for us and because we were sure that Leo would continue in Barcelona, so right now he is not included in our plans, Guardiola says according to Eurosport.
