TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has ordered 2,000,000 monkeypox vaccines from northern Bavarian Denmark.

The vaccine produced by a Danish biotech company is estimated to arrive in Indonesia this October.

So who are the recipients?

Head of Task Force Monkeypox PB IDI, Dr. Hanny Nilasari said the monkeypox vaccine was not intended for public or mass use.

There are three groups that are prioritized in administering this limited vaccine, namely healthcare professionals or healthcare professionals, patients in close contact, and high-risk populations.

“Just like before, vaccines weren’t given for the mass. But the indications were limited, which meant patients in close contact, healthcare professionals, and high-risk populations, for example, for tracked cases. So vaccines don’t have it. aim to eliminate the disease but to minimize the infection, “he told the virtual press conference on Wednesday (9/21/2022).

He explained in detail that health workers who can get the monkeypox vaccine have priority for those who work and work in the laboratories that control this disease.

“There are 15 laboratories in charge of identifying this monkeypox, particularly health workers in that location (15 laboratories),” added this dermatologist and venereal specialist.

Then, the administration of vaccines is administered to track contacts who are at home with the patient for a certain period, i.e. 4-10 days after the patient has come into contact with the contact tracing.

“So the vaccine doesn’t eliminate the infection but relieves the symptoms,” he said.

The vaccine is recommended because it is more effective against monkeypox.

This vaccine can be used for patients under 18, it is safe for pregnant women and children, because it has been used in countries where monkeypox is endemic.
