Indeed, chronic stress can cause a variety of physical and mental disorders. However, stress that occurs within reasonable limits will bring various benefits, such as the following:

1. Improve cognitive function

The nervousness and panic that occurs due to moderate stress can also improve brain performance. The reason is, stress can strengthen the connections between neurons in the brain, improve memory and attention span, and help increase productivity.

Research from the University of Berkeley that conducted trials on mice also proved that brief stress causes stem cells in the brain to multiply into new nerve cells. This can lead to improved mental performance after two weeks. Better brain performance can improve brain performance in times of stress.

2. Prevent infection

When stressed, the body will release a response fight or flight. These responses are actually designed to protect us, whether from injury or other threats. Not only that, stress also triggers the release of certain hormones.

In reasonable amounts, stress hormones also help protect against infection. Moderate stress stimulates the production of chemicals called interleukins and provides a rapid boost to the immune system to protect against disease.

3. Energizing

According to psychologist Deborah Serani, short-term stress can increase energy. Serani also said stress can also provide motivation, sharpen senses, and help solve problems. “Good stress actually creates new neural pathways and stimulates healthy endorphins,” says Serani.

4. Improve fetal development

For pregnant women, chronic stress can have a negative impact on both mother and baby. However, stress within reasonable limits can also have a positive side. This has been proven by research from Johns Hopkins 2006 has proven it.

The research studied 137 women who were in the second trimester of pregnancy. From this research, the researchers proved that babies born to women who experienced mild stress during pregnancy had better early development skills at 2 years of age than babies born to mothers who did not experience stress.
