Not according to Jokowi’s goal, Trans Sumatra will reach Jambi only in 2024

Jakarta

Toll road Trans Sumatra it has become one of the projects President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has been working on since his first term at the helm of Indonesia. Jokowi himself once thought that the Trans Sumatra Toll Road would be fully connected from Lampung to Aceh in 2024.

But in fact, currently the Ministry of BUMN has stated that it is possible that the Trans Sumatra Toll Road may be connected to Jambi only in 2024.

This was announced by SOE Deputy Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo before Commission VI of the DPR. The man who is familiarly called Tiko said his party and the PUPR ministry had agreed that the Trans-Sumatra toll road would only be completed as far as Jambi in 2024.

“We have agreed at PUPR that we will complete the target in this government (until 2024) to Jambi. Finally from Betung to Jambi,” Tiko said in a working meeting held on Monday (5/12/2022).

Even though the main sections connecting Lampung to Aceh have not been connected, Tiko said that many of the wing sections of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road have started to be connected. He said there are still 8 more toll roads in Sumatra which construction will be completed by 2024.

“We will also complete several wing segments such as Padang-Sicincin, Bengkulu, Sigli-Banda Aceh,” Tiko said.

In detikcom’s notes, President Jokowi himself had set a goal in 2018 that the Trans Sumatra Toll Road would be fully connected from Lampung to Aceh in 2024.

This was revealed by Jokowi after testing the first section of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road, Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar, inaugurated at the end of 2018.

“Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road to Palembang is part of Trans Sumatra Toll Road. Connected from Bakauheni to Banda Aceh, Trans Sumatra is hoped to be completed in 2024,” Jokowi said via his Instagram account, @ jokowi, Friday November 23, 2018 ago.
