“Not a zone, but a resort.” The Ministry of Internal Affairs commented on the prison photo of Serik Kudebaev

news-id-114208" style="display:inline;">The Committee of the Penitentiary System (CES) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs commented on the photo of former General Serik Kudebaev, taken in places of deprivation of liberty, which appeared on the network, Tengrinews.kz reports.

In the picture, Kudebaev is depicted surrounded by 11 men at a richly laid table. In social networks, some users began to sneer at the conditions of detention of the ex-head of the Almaty Region Police Department.

“Like in a sanatorium. And the women, probably, were left behind the scenes? This once again confirms that in capitalism everyone is equal, but some are more equal”, “Not a zone, but a resort”, “Like in Christ’s bosom”, “Sit well” , commentators wrote.

The press service of the CCES noted that, according to the internal regulations, convicts held in institutions of the penal system have the right to receive food in the form of parcels, transfers, or when visiting their close relatives. They also have the right to eat in specially designated premises of the detachments in their free time.

“It has been preliminary established that in the institution No. 22 of the penitentiary system in the East Kazakhstan region, the convicts received ready-to-eat food from their relatives. During the check, prohibited foods were not found (alcoholic beverages).”

“At the moment, an official investigation has been appointed into the use of a mobile phone by the convicts, as well as the overlapping of the lens of the video surveillance camera.”

“The Committee of the Penitentiary System adheres to a principled position in matters of violation of the law by personnel. Each information received is carefully checked and, if a violation is confirmed, we take measures in accordance with applicable law,” the ministry said in a statement.

Serik Kudebaev previously held the positions of the head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Almaty region and the city of Almaty in different years. In April of this year, in the case of the January events, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison to be served in a medium security institution. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, people were beaten and tortured in front of General Kudebaev.
