Former CSKA head coach Valery Gazzaev believes red-blue players should have supported Viktor Gancharenko after losing to Zenit (0-4) in the Tinkoff RPL match of the 23rd round.
It was previously reported that after this meeting, the mentor expressed a desire to leave the club and wrote a letter of resignation.
– Any professional who respects himself and his work should do so. Coaches have such a fate, these are the rules of the game. There is a result – the trainer is good, no result – bad, the way out. Other professional criteria, as practice shows, are temporary. Defeat is the direct responsibility of the coach, this is how the world of professional football works. Replacing one person is always easier than a team.
And such an observation. Gancharenko announced his resignation, expressed his attitude to what is happening by the act – not a single player spoke out. No one! Why? Perhaps the players, if they are professionally involved in the matter, in the current situation should at least share the blame. Words of support to the head coach explaining what had happened would have been definitely out of place in this situation.
This, it seems to me, is a disturbing symptom. He emphasizes the measure of indifference that we observed on the field. Zenit, by the way, can put CSKA as an example. For the leader, it would seem that the misfire is not critical, the tournament situation allows. But what do we see? “Zenith” is assembled, motivated, tuned to the result. And he is very rational. Not to say that the class of Zenit players is many times higher, but CSKA was quite easily beaten at the class. And 0: 4 is not the worst result for the army, ”said Gazzaev.
Earlier it became known that after the match with Zenit, Gancharenko went to Belarus, citing ill health. At the moment, the team is being trained by his assistant Sergei Ovchinnikov. It was reported that the 43-year-old specialist expressed his willingness to finalize before the end of the current season.
Recall that Gancharenko has been heading CSKA since 2016. The current contract of the coach with the Muscovites is valid until the end of the season 2020/21.
After 23 rounds, the capital club is in 5th place in the Tinkoff RPL standings, with 36 points in its assets. The next match the red and blue will play away against Dynamo. The meeting is scheduled for June 27.
