The stabbing took place on Saturday 15 May around 0530 in an apartment on Tøyen in Oslo.

Police and an ambulance were quickly on the scene, and the offended man in his 20s was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

On Thursday, the police report that the man today died from the injuries he suffered, and the charge for the man in his 30s who was charged with attempted murder has now been changed to murder, prosecutor Kari Kirkhorn in the Oslo police informs VG.

The man in his 30s was arrested on Sunday. Another man had already been arrested and charged with attempted murder, but he has since been released.

– As of now, we do not envisage that we will arrest more, Kirkhorn says.

– Not a random victim

According to the police attorney, several people were gathered in the apartment in question on Tøyen on Saturday night. The apartment belongs to one of the witnesses in the case.

– There are several who have been in the apartment on Tøyen, and there are people who know each other. Beyond that, I can not say anything more about the relationship between them, but it is important to point out that this is not a random victim on the street, says Kirkhorn.

She says that the police have knowledge of those involved from before, and that there are people who have had contact with the police before for what she describes as minor matters.

The man now charged with murder has been questioned, and on Tuesday this week he was remanded in custody for four weeks with letter and visitation control.

Defender: – Takes it very seriously

The man’s defender, lawyer Robina Hussain, says that her client has been informed about the development in the case.

– He is informed about it and takes it very seriously. He has not yet been questioned, and has not yet taken a position on the charge, neither for attempted murder nor murder, Hussain says to VG.

It is still unclear when the accused will be questioned again.

– There are several things that should be investigated first. It also depends on his mental health now that he has received this news, says Hussain.

A man in his 30s has previously been convicted of possession of drugs and violence. He is a foreign citizen, but has lived in Norway since 2003.
