JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Chairman of the MPR Bambang Soesatyo supports government policies in handling the economic impact of the pandemic Covid-19.
According to him, there are many examples of other countries in the world that are too focused on managing health, so that they fall into the brink of recession.
“Not a few countries that prioritize health management in the end face complex economic problems, even to the point of a recession,” said Bambang in his opening speech at the MPR / DPR / DPD Annual Session, Friday (14/8/2020).

He said health and economic affairs must be resolved in a balanced manner.
The experience of a number of other countries experiencing recession should be an important lesson for Indonesia.
“There needs to be a balance in solving health problems as well as the economy,” said Bambang.
Therefore, he appreciated the government’s policy to form the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (PEN).

However, Bambang emphasized that even health matters cannot be ignored in handling Covid-19.
“We view it very precisely, considering that economic and health problems cannot be separated from the handling of Covid-19,” he said.
“Of course with a note that health remains a priority. Because in a healthy manner, economic problems will be easier to handle,” said Bambang.
