Seventeen-year-old tennis player Linda Fruhvirtová did not make her third quarter-final appearance on the WTA circuit at the tournament in Hua Chin. The eighth-seeded Czech in Thailand lost to Tamara Zidanšek from Slovenia 3:6, 6:4, 4:6 in the second round after a three-hour battle.

Fruhvirtová, who rose to 51st place in the WTA rankings thanks to her participation in the round of 16 of the Australian Open, was the paper favorite before the match.
