The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms the death to TV 2 on Thursday morning.
– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware that a Norwegian citizen has been found dead in Turkey, says spokesperson Ragnhild H. Simenstad to TV 2.
Simenstad further says that the embassy in Ankara has contact with relatives.
– They follow up in line with the current framework for consular assistance, she says.
Due to the duty of confidentiality, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that they have no further comments on the case.
The woman was found at the water’s edge on a beach in Antalya, according to several Turkish media. Several media also report that the woman probably died as a result of drowning, but that she will be autopsied to determine the final cause of death.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not want to comment on the woman’s cause of death, other than to confirm that they are aware of the death.
