Norwegian Woman Arrested and Requested for Extradition to Spain for Terrorist Activities

The woman was arrested by the police on 16 January, and has been requested to be handed over to Spain.

– We have assisted the Spanish authorities in that case, says Eirik Veum in PST to NRK.

He says they don’t want to say anything more about the matter.

Police prosecutor Marius Kjønnøy Kongsberg in the Oslo police district says TV 2 that the woman has been charged with specific terrorist activities and that she was remanded in custody for four weeks last week.

– The woman has been arrested and detained because she is wanted internationally by the Spanish authorities, who have issued a European arrest warrant, says Kongsberg to TV 2.

She is wanted for breach of criminal provisions on three counts of terrorist activity. According to Spanish law, all circumstances can lead to a higher penalty than imprisonment for one year, the ruling from the Oslo District Court states. It further states that the criminal relationship must have occurred in 2023.

The woman has family in Norway, and has lived here for several years.

The court believes that there is a risk of evasion and therefore that the conditions for extradition to Spain have been met.

The woman has appealed the imprisonment.

– She does not understand the accusations. It is a difficult and burdensome situation to be in. We have now appealed, and then we will see what the outcome will be, says defender Magnus Torfoss to TV 2.
