Norwegian Wins Record-Breaking NOK 1.36 Billion Eurojackpot

CASH GAME: – This is the biggest prize ever at Norsk Tipping, says senior communications advisor Anne Marit Sletten at Norsk Tipping to NTB.

A Norwegian got 5+2 straight in the Eurojackpot on Tuesday evening. The profit is a staggering NOK 1,360,020,000 – i.e. NOK 1.36 billion. VG mentioned the matter first.

Norsk Tipping called the newly minted billionaire at 10.10pm. It is not yet known whether the person answered the phone.

Sletten will not say where in the country the winner is located. When there are winners of grand prizes over NOK 50 million, they do not go out with any geographical connection at all, she says.

– It is for security reasons. It may be that the winner wants to come forward, they are free to do so. But most people want to remain anonymous, says Sletten.

The first prize pot in the current Eurojackpot draw has been building ever since Friday 17 November last year. It has been at the maximum level since 2 January, which is therefore 120 million euros.

The previous Norsk Tipping record is from 2020 when a man won NOK 485.1 million. It was also in the Eurojackpot, which is a collaboration between 18 countries. Tuesday’s record is thus more than twice as high as the previous record.
