Norwegian Terrorist Anders Breivik Sues State Over Prison Isolation

In Norway, Anders Breivik, convicted of terrorism, is suing the state over the feeling of loneliness that haunts him in prison. This was reported in the British press.

“Breivik is suing the state because he has been in extreme isolation for 11 years. He has no contact with other people, except for his guards, ”said Reuters Breivik’s lawyer.

According to the lawyer, in 2022 Breivik was transferred to another prison. The lawyer hoped that there would be better conditions in the new place, where the convict would be able to meet other people. However, this did not happen. Breivik was sentenced to 21 years in prison after he committed a series of terrorist attacks in the summer of 2011.

According to the convict, the lack of communication with other prisoners violates the European Convention on Human Rights. It states that no one should be subjected to inhumane or degrading treatment in prison.

Previously Norwegian court ruled regarding Breivik’s parole application. According to the court decision, the terrorist will not be released on parole. He was considered a danger to society.
