He came to the conclusion that he wants to spend the rest of his life with an American skier in the hospital after a heavy fall in Wengen in January. “I actually decided in the hospital that Mikaela is the woman of my life,” Kilde revealed to Norwegian television NRK.
“When I was transferred from the hospital in Bern to Innsbruck, I was sure. I called home, ordered the ring and then picked it up from my brother,” he explained.
A few weeks later, he lifted Shiffrin from the World Cup final in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Back in the Innsbruck apartment, a fundamental question arose.

Kilde described the next moment as beautiful, but also funny. “At first she didn’t understand it at all and just stood there. She asked me: Do you want to put that ring on my finger?
I replied: But you must answer first! It was a very beautiful and funny thing,” he described the moments when the bread was broken.
The American (29) and the Norwegian (31) have been a couple for over three years and stand by each other through thick and thin. When Kilde was seriously injured this winter, not only Mikaela, but also her family rushed to the hospital and the rehab bed to support him.
Kilde’s decision is also confirmed by the price he did not hesitate to pay for Mikaela’s ring. According to experts, the price could range between 15,000 and 20,000 euros.
