The Koran burnings in Sweden have sent the country into a diplomatic crisis – and worsened the security situation in the country.

On Tuesday, the government announced that it will intensify border controls to prevent “dangerous people” from entering the country.

Same day wrote The evening paper that a number of Swedish mobile numbers received an SMS calling for revenge for the Koran burnings. The Swedish security police Säpo is connected to the messages.

VG has received several tips on Thursday that a similar message has been sent out to Norwegian telephone numbers.

This is the message, written in English, which was sent last night to several Norwegian telephone numbers:

“Lighting the Holy Koran shows hypocrisy and betrayal from Sweden and Western countries. I ask young Muslims to take revenge on those who set fire to the Koran.

God willingGod willingGod willing.there will come a day when these people will deeply regret.”

The sender asks if anyone can help.

The message begins with the name of Hezbollah leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah. It is not clear who the sender of the message is.

– PST is aware that such SMSes have been sent out during the night to Thursday. We are also familiar with the content. For now, our assessment is that the security situation and the threat level in Norway have not changed significantly, but we are keeping up to date with developments, both in Norway and in our immediate areas and neighboring countries, says senior advisor Eirik Veum in PST and continues:

– PST is in close dialogue with the police, other actors in Norway and abroad about the situation. We continuously consider whether our assessment of the threat picture should change.

The terrorist threat is considered by PST to be at level 3 – which implies a moderate threat.

PST emphasizes that it is the total threat picture that is now continuously assessed.

In the message sent to Norwegian telephone numbers, there is a link to a website and a Telegram account, the latter of which was created on 31 July.

– We will punish anyone who insults holy books, and the authorities who support them, says the description of the Telegram account.

The account has published several posts in English and one in Swedish.

VG has not succeeded in getting a comment from the people behind the Telegram account.
