Bad statistic to start with: the Norwegian town of Bodo has 52,357 inhabitants. That is 8,054 less than the full capacity of Celtic Park. The place where the Norwegian team performed yet another European stunt.
Bodo Glimt has been causing a furore for a while with offensive and aggressive football under trainer Kjetil Knutsen. It played champion in Norway for the past two years and finished second this season in a Conference League group with AS Roma, Zorja Luhansk and CSKA Sofia.
It is therefore not surprising that many players can count on interest from other clubs. Bodo Glimt saw strong holders such as Erik Botheim (to Krasnodar) and Patrick Berg (to Lens) leave last winter, but that loss is seemingly effortlessly absorbed.
Visiting Celtic, the Norwegians took an early lead via Runar Espejord. Amahl William Pellegrino doubled the score after the break. And shortly after Daizen Maede’s goal against, Hugo Vetlesen put the 1-3 on the board.
How much longer can Bodo Glimt continue to stunt?
