A Norwegian man in his 50s has died after what the police refer to as a drowning accident in Grebbestad in Sweden.
This is according to the police in Västra Götaland County.
– Life-saving first aid was attempted, before the man was transported to hospital by ambulance helicopter, but unfortunately his life could not be saved, says press officer in the police region Väst, Hans-Jörgen Ostler, to Dagbladet.
The police are investigating the incident, which happened on Sunday night. It is still unknown how the man ended up in the water.
– We haven’t figured out the circumstances, but for one reason or another he ended up in the water, says Osler.
He states that it must have happened close to a brewery restaurant in Grebbbestad.
– I can therefore imagine that there were quite a few people nearby, says Ostler.
He currently does not know whether witnesses have been questioned in the case.
– The investigation will reveal the circumstances and the cause of the death, he says.
The Norwegian’s relatives have been notified of the death.
