This is Norway’s first and will be established at Oslo University Hospital.
The experts will assist the rest of the health regions and municipalities, and not least – those with endometriosis and adenomyosis.
– Women with the diseases endometriosis and adenomyosis must get better help. I am therefore satisfied that we are now putting in place a national expertise service for these patients, says Health Minister Ingvild Kjerkol.

– First step in the right direction
For the Endometriosis Association, this is really good news, and something they have been working on for a long time.
– When the expertise service is approved and launched, it will mean an enormous amount for the patient group. It is a first step in the right direction, says chairman Elisabeth Raasholm Larby.
Such a service will make access to good investigation and treatment more equal, she says. Today, it varies which offer is available, depending on where you are in the country.

Raasholm Larby herself has severe endometriosis and it took many before she was diagnosed.
On average, it takes seven years for women with endometriosis to have it confirmed.
Raasholm Larby has applied for compensation for delayed diagnosis and treatment. But was refused by both Norwegian Patient Injury Compensation and the Patient Injury Board.
Now she has decided to take the case to court.
Works with women’s health strategy
This comes into place after the Ministry of Health and Care asked the health organizations to investigate how competence in these ailments should be strengthened.
– The government prioritizes women’s health to ensure equal health services, and we will present a women’s health strategy during the next year, says Health Minister Kjerkol.
The Women’s Health Strategy is a response to the measures that the Women’s Health Committee proposed earlier this year.

The Women’s Health Committee summarized the most important findings in four points:
Women’s health has a low status. Doctors and nurses rank disorders that affect women low. Women’s disorders are less researched and receive less money.Lack of coordination. Although women’s health is important to politicians, little happens in the health service. It particularly affects women with complex and complex disorders.Failing knowledge bridge. We have a lot of knowledge and research, but it does not reach students, health personnel or the general public. For example, women have different symptoms of heart disease than men, but it does not show through.Women’s voices have little impact.
