The Norwegian Cruise Ship MS Maud has run into problems in the North Sea due to storm Pia. The ship became adrift due to the strong wind, reports a Danish emergency service.

The problems arose when a window on the bridge was shattered by a high wave. This caused water to flow into the wheelhouse, leading to a power outage. As a result, the ship became rudderless.

The controls have now been taken over manually, but the navigation still does not work. Denmark has sent tugboats to tow the ship to a Danish port.

The 400 passengers and crew were all said to be fine.

The ship, owned by cruise line HX, part of Norway’s Hurtigruten Group, was en route from Floroe in Norway to Tilbury near London in Great Britain.
