Johannes Kläbo has fallen ill with the coronavirus.
Now the start of the season is in danger for the Norwegian cross-country skiing star.
– The Beitostölen and Ruka are uncertain, we’ll see how quickly I get rid of this shit, says the 27-year-old to VG.
Ten days before the Norwegian competitions in Beitostölen, Johannes Kläbo has been affected by the coronavirus.
A week later, it is time for the traditional World Cup premiere in Finnish Ruka.
On Monday, he did not feel well and interrupted the altitude training in Italian Livigno four days earlier than planned.
At home in Trondheim on Tuesday morning, Johannes Kläbo took a positive corona test.
– I’m not bedridden, but I’m not healthy either. This means that I haven’t worked out since Sunday when my body didn’t feel like it should normally. Now I hope I can get this out of my body as soon as possible, says Johannes Kläbo.
“The most important thing is to get healthy”
In the Italian Alps, he lived isolated in a cabin with his father and manager Haakon Kläbo.
– It is too early to say what consequences this will have for the start of the season. Now the most important thing is to get healthy and that I don’t do anything that causes this to remain in the body. After all, I am dependent on my body working one hundred percent, says Johannes Kläbo.
During the championship-free season, the Tour de Ski becomes the highlight of the season for many in the world elite.
The national competitions are decided in Beitostölen on 17–19 November, when the Swedes compete in Gällivare at the same time.
