Norwegian Communist Party Leader Resigns Over Sunglasses Theft Scandal

The leader of Norway’s far-left Communist Red Party, Björnar Moxnes, has announced that he is resigning over an incident involving the theft of sunglasses at Oslo airport. Initially, the politician said that he accidentally took the accessory, but later admitted his guilt, explaining that he “cannot understand” why he did it, writes on July 24 “Kommersant».

According to Norwegian media, the 41-year-old politician pocketed Hugo Boss glasses worth about 100 euros in one of the boutiques in the airport building. Although Moxnes initially denied the theft, CCTV footage shows otherwise. The politician rips off the tag from his glasses, puts them in a suitcase, and then in his pocket. On June 30, he was fined 3,000 crowns (about 250 euros) for theft. After Björnar Moxnes confessed to his deed and could not explain the motives of his act.
