Soldier Ukraine was preparing to launch a counterattack in an attempt to seize the area occupied by the Russians. Armament assistance from NATO countries has also arrived, including battle tanks. There are also other vehicles that are no less sophisticated, with functions minesweeper and embankment builders.
The Ukrainian military will obviously face various obstacles that have been prepared by Russia, for example mines to deep trenches. In order to reach Russia’s position, Ukraine certainly must tame such obstacles, one of which is with a special vehicle from Norway, NM189.
As quoted from Eurasiantimes, Ukraine has received a pair of armored vehicles that are versatile. The NM189 is equipped with a mine clearance system, a dozer for digging and pulling material and an excavator, making it an all in one breakout vehicle.
So NM189 can clear the path of mines and can dig and plow the ground into the trenches to build temporary land bridges as tank lines and others.
It is equipped with a 12.7mm machine gun so that when the driver digs the ground, other crew members can operate it to participate in shooting at enemy positions with the tank.
The NM189 was developed specifically for Norway in 1995 on the basis of the German Leopard 1 tank. The Norwegian soldier once demonstrated his skills during a joint exercise with the United States marines in 2016.
The breach exercise involved a pair of NM189s and a Marine Assault Breacher destroying anti-tank trenches and embankments. The NM189s covered each other with their machine guns as they took turns driving dirt into the trenches and then digging the embankments. After that, tanks and combat vehicles can pass through.
